circa 1920 English Silver/Pewter(?) Ink Sander

Category: Metalware

"Yes, thank you," Marguerite said, peeling off her gloves. "Have you paper and pen? Miss Chester would like to write a brief note, and then if you'd be so kind as to have one of your men deliver it with these packages to her home--"

"Certainly, certainly!"

A moment later, they had been seated at a cozy table beside the window, Miss Chester had pen, ink, sander, and a sheet of the restaurant's stationary before her, and a waiter was hovering nearby, ready to recite the day's menu. "Je te remercie," Marguerite said to Luci as they waited; "I have barely spoken with Miss Chester in over two weeks. I appreciate your welcoming her into our little party. Perhaps it will help you pick up some English, hm?" She smiled and added, "Listen carefully to the menu; I will translate if you don't understand. I don't want you to be surprised when the platter comes out! You may order anything you like."

This is an abolutely incredible piece etched with vines and leaves and flowers. When the ink was fresh from the fountain pen, a very fine "sand" would be shaken over the paper to speed the drying process.

This lovely little piece is a wonderful gift for an artist, writer or lover of collectibles.
